![]() Near the end of the music video, many of DokeV's creatures are shown dancing on a stage along with several humans. Whether this is merely a humorous skit or a sample of what fans can expect to see in the game is uncertain. From DokeV's reveal trailer, the joyful gameplay chaos that the game promises mostly relates to either fighting them or utilizing the game's traversal options. The Dokebi are mostly shown dancing on the video's stage along with several human characters, but after the video is done, there is a short scene that features some of them hiding in what appears to be a temple from what may be the player character, judging by their expanding hammer that has been shown in past trailers. Some look like duo-colored cats with hats, others pink anteaters, and still more bears with eye patches. The 2021 Game Awards music video showed several of the monsters that players can expect from DokeV. The 2021 Game Awards music video showed several of the monsters, however, no details on them were given. The Dokebi are invisible and require special glasses in order to be seen, and can be stored inside of small chips. ![]() Mugen Train continued to mercilessly slice Spirited Away’s records until it became the highest-grossing Japanese film of all time, worldwide-not just anime, all Japanese films. Then comes Demon Slayer: Mugen Train to topple its opening weekend box office record in 2020. It all started when Makoto Shinkai’s Your Name ousted it to become the highest-grossing anime film of all time. Spirited Away’s rule over Japanese box office trends started to ebb in recent years, though. And that’s with a truncated weekend.įor a long, long time, when describing Japanese box office trends to friends, those of us who are nerdy enough to care about such things used Studio Ghibli’s 2001 classic Spirited Away as the barometer. Meanwhile, Red itself had the second-biggest opening weekend in Japanese box office history. The film’s theme song is currently the top song IN THE WORLD on Apple Music. But now that Red has come out in Japan and France, the scope of the film’s reception is eons beyond what even I, a well-chronicled One Piece diehard fan, expected. Hell, the new protagonist of the movie is the never-before-mentioned daughter of one of One Piece‘s most important and most mysterious figures. Those of us who are lucky enough to count ourselves as One Piece fans have sensed for a while that One Piece Film: Red was going to be a big deal. ![]() That’s the only time you can get your gear as the staff has to fit you for your flippers. Paul Mazursky, the director, chose the title of his recent autobiography, "Show Me the Magic," from the script of "Tempest.".The (by today's standards) primitive special effects were done by Bran Ferren, who later became head of Disney Imagineering, and still later was an adviser to the US intelligence community. It was actually not filmed on an island, but in Gytheion, the southern tip of the remote Mani peninsula of the Peloponnesus of Greece. It was Molly Ringwald's first movie, as well as Sam Robards'.This was the second movie I took my Greek-American goddess wife to see.) Trivia notes on this flick: Most times, I see something I missed before. And in fact, I probably have watched it several dozen times. ![]() Overall, I'd rather watch this film a hundred times than see some bombastic Hollywood piece of crap once. It's a sublime moment, and representative of the best aspect of this movie and the one thing that keeps it somewhat unified, the fact that (aside from extensive flashbacks and the very end) it is the story of one day on an island, from awakening to night. Particularly fine is the perfect little piece played to accompany the afternoon siesta, as people, animals, and seemingly the entire island collapse to sleep away the hottest part of the afternoon. The music of this film, composed by Stomu Yamashta, is also overlooked. But to be honest, these scenes are the most remarkable and gripping in the film, if the hardest to watch. What makes this film flawed is its uneasy mixture of straightforward normal narrative and sudden jarring apparent improvisation, particularly between Cassavetes and Rowland. But watch the film again after re-reading "The Tempest," and they'll seem far closer. But as Lord Byron, another visitor to Greece, protested to his friend John Murray about his similarly self-indulgent and discursive "Don Juan," "It may be profligate but is it not life, is it not the thing?" The connections to Shakespeare's "Tempest" may seem, as another commentator here claims, a bit tenuous. "Tempest" is a somewhat self-indulgent, uneven, discursive movie. ![]() Yes, it's a little long and disjointed and it works a little too hard at being different (there's even a curtain call at the end of the film), but it never fails to hold the attention of those who like something a little different in their filmgoing. This film is sad and tragic and funny and intense. Julia stops the show in one scene dancing with a flock of sheep accompanied by Liza Minnelli singing "New York, New York". Ringwald shines in her film debut and there is a scene-stealing performance by the late Raul Julia as Kalibanos, Cassavettes' manservant on the island. ![]() Cassavettes is surrounded by a first rate cast.his scenes with Rowlands crackle with intensity and his surprising chemistry with Sarandon is a stark contrast to his scenes with Rowlands. Even though Paul Mazursky is credited as director, Cassavettes hand is all over this film.the long scenes filmed without cutting, the improvisatory feel to the dialogue., the self-indulgent storytelling style, this is definitely his show from beginning to end, and if you're not a fan of his work, the film will seem laboriously long and dull but if you are a fan, there are rewards to be had. Loosely based on the Shakesperean play, TEMPEST follows an architect (the late John Cassavettes, in one of his best performances), bored with his work and his crumbling marriage (to real life spouse Gene Rowlads), who decides to chuck it all, say the hell with the rat race and go live on an island with his daughter (Molly Ringwald, in her film debut), and new girlfriend Aretha (a luminous Susan Sarandon). For many years I thought I was the only person on the planet who had seen TEMPEST, and I am so glad to learn that I am not the only person who discovered this sleeper somewhere in their movie-going travails. ![]() At a minimum, I required each notepad app to be available on one desktop and one mobile platform (and sync between them), and to have some kind of offline functionality. Similarly, the biggest reason to have a notes app instead of a physical notebook is that you can access it from anywhere on any device at any time, whether you're at your desk at work, chilling on your couch at home, or flying coast-to-coast. This rule also extended to other features: editing and sorting notes had to feel seamless and natural, rather than require a battle with a horrible user interface. If it wasn't almost as convenient to open the notes app and create a quick note as it was to reach across my desk for a Moleskine and a pen, it didn't make the cut. The real competition when you're looking for somewhere to write a note isn't other note-taking apps, but a pen and scrap of paper. Second, all the note-taking apps had to be quick and easy to use as intended. Not every note-taking app needs to have features like image-to-text conversion or stylus support, but if it boasted about them on its marketing page, they had better be well-executed and nice to use. This sounds like an easy bar to clear, but you'd be surprised at how many apps fell short. With so many apps to consider-and so many apps claiming to be notes apps-I had some pretty strict criteria for what made an app worthy of this list.įirst, the best note-taking software has to be good at what it claims to do. If your favorite app isn't on the list, feel free to shout at me. For example, while I love text-heavy notes apps with support for Markdown (which shouldn't really be a surprise), I recognize that other people are looking for different things. ![]() I've done my best to leave my preferences out of the decision-making process here. Even after 10 years, I'm still fine-tuning the system I use. ![]() Note taking is something I have opinions about. For more details on our process, read the full rundown of how we select apps to feature on the Zapier blog.Īs a tech writer, I've been taking notes and reviewing software every day for over a decade. We're never paid for placement in our articles from any app or for links to any site-we value the trust readers put in us to offer authentic evaluations of the categories and apps we review. We spend dozens of hours researching and testing apps, using each app as it's intended to be used and evaluating it against the criteria we set for the category. Microsoft OneNote for a free note-taking appĪll of our best apps roundups are written by humans who've spent much of their careers using, testing, and writing about software. Here are the best note-taking apps I could find. As a rule, if an app supports video calls out of the box, it's not a notes app.Įven with all these criteria in place, I still tested close to 40 different note apps for taking notes online. There are some great super-niche notes apps designed for fiction writers or developers, but they aren't fit for most people, so weren't in consideration for a place on this list. Similarly, there are lots of powerful business collaboration tools that claim to be notes apps but just aren't suitable for one person. I also only really considered general-purpose personal note-taking apps. So for this list, I didn't look at every app that could be used to take notes or even every business collaboration tool that claimed it was a notes app-I was only interested in apps that were explicitly designed to be notes apps. Apparently, space suits with oxygen tanks don’t exist in FTL. Aki and my other crew member who I can’t remember the name of ran back there and both nearly suffocated fixing it. Why? The fire was out, and I closed all of the airlocks! It was then that I noticed that my oxygen unit was broken due to the fire. However, my ship was rapidly turning red. Aki put out the fire and was then sent to medbay to heal. I would have vented the fire to space (as I did one earlier in my engine room) but the oxygen room lacks direct access to an airlock. I sent one of my remaining crew, Aki, to repair it. Now down to two crew and my pilot, it was going to take finesse if anything dramatic happened from here on out.ĭuring a particularly vicious pirate battle, my oxygen supply was set alight. Looking to add to my meager crew I jumped at the chance, and then he jumped at the chance to off one of my crew and then disappear. I stopped by one planet and had the option to rescue a ranting nut from the surface. Usually I would have to maybe repair my shields or weapons, but for the most part I was cruising. Early on it was smooth sailing, blowing up random pirates and drones as I traveled from point to point on the map. I began with four crew total three plus my pilot. Your ship is going to get beat up during the game and it’s up to you to shift your crew around to handle the mini-disasters that occur. Thanks to OnLive, I finally got a chance to play it. I’ve been interested in FTL: Faster Than Light, a space-based rogue-like indie title that focuses on managing your space folk as you explore the galaxy, for some time now. Paranormal Lockdown has no shortage of skeptics, so this was easy. To uncover the truth, you must be willing to engage all points of view. I also study the minds and assertions of skeptics. The truth is that reality is a product of perception, so depending on who observes the event, there will be a different story. Paranormal Lockdown has moments in which there could be multiple explanations for one event, and all explanations appear to be viable. Scientific DiscoveryĪs I stated at the beginning of this article, the paranormal activity can be observed and explained through certain scientific disciplines – meaning that there are parts of this phenomenon that is not left up to interpretation like the phenomenon of entanglement and how it influences all sources of energy. When the evidence is simplest and pure is when you have the most grounded proof that something is real. Sometimes in this world, the most complex things have the simplest explanation. There is a misconception that any evidence that supports the claim of paranormal activity, would, itself, have to be extraordinary. This is how it should be will dealing with real paranormal activity. In Paranormal Lockdown, while Nick and Katrina do their best to uncover the mystery, everything does not always add up. Just having energy present without understanding its origin leaves a lot to question, but when it comes together to make sense, it becomes harder to refute.Īnother thing that sends up a red flag when dealing with paranormal activity is when all of the questions are answered, and everything is so clearly laid out to produce a perfect storyline. Because the stories behind these suggested haunting are real, you should be able to get a vivid image of why the activity is so prevalent. Paranormal energy is generated from real sources, no matter how old or distant. It is the really subtle things that make the hair stand up on your neck, and you get that a lot with this show. ![]() Not that it is not possible – because it is, but because it is rare. ![]() When stuff starts sliding across the room, you will tend to lose me. When you understand how energy operates through inter-dimensional activity, you become aware of the fact that most of the activity is subtle – not overly pronounced. The telling behavior is when things happen, and they are legitimately spooked to the point you can see it on their face. You did not see anything, but hearing Nick and Katrina scream “wow” makes you feel like you missed something. Sometimes, these statements are meant to cause you to question what you missed. So, some of the “wow.” and “amazing” statements you hear throughout the episodes are a part of the production, and they are there for effect. The UnexpectedĪnything designed for television will have a certain level of production, no matter how much its touted as a reality show. For instance, a room that someone died in will likely be more active than a room the person rarely entered or did not connect with. Generally speaking fourth and fifth-dimensional activity is the result of specific causes that will focus on certain areas and stimuli. If every room you enter there is activity, it leads me to believe that the activity is staged. With Paranormal Lockdown, the dead spaces suggest that there was no unexplained activity during that time, which is normal. Anytime a watch shows in real time (meaning video has little editing done) and there is a constant barrage of activity, I immediately postulate that a great deal of what is taking place is staged. When it comes to dealing with paranormal activity, it is like anything else in life – highly unpredictable. ![]() While you can do almost anything with a camera and computer, there are some things that I noticed that might suggest that at least some of the activity is genuine. ![]() Currently, there is a huge buzz surrounding the show “ Paranormal Lockdown.” Of course, there are quite a few people who suggest that the show is not real, so I decided to examine it for myself. This is why most people don’t understand the paranormal world and dismiss most of what is presented.ĭon’t get me wrong, there are plenty of frauds out there who make good money deceiving people, but that does not change the fact that there is a great deal of activity that takes place outside of the three-dimensional world in which we operate. Because most people only function and view life through a 3-dimensional lens, they tend to be skeptical of anything that cannot be explained through concepts that align with their reality. A significant portion of the work I do in human behavior and human performance is influenced by my understanding and practices in the field of quantum physics, and it my familiarity with the quantum world that facilitates my ventures into the paranormal. ![]() Methodologyįinding a new or different payroll service provider involves a lot of comparing and contrasting. ![]() Lactose intolerance usually occurs in adults and is associated with race. The bacterial digestion of lactose produces gases leading to symptoms of diarrhea, bloating, and abdominal cramps. The undigested lactose moves to the large intestine where bacteria are able to digest it. When people do not have enough of the enzyme lactase, lactose is not sufficiently broken down resulting in a condition called lactose intolerance. Once carbohydrates are chemically broken down into single sugar units they are then transported into the inside of intestinal cells. Maltase breaks the bond between the two glucose units of maltose, and lactase breaks the bond between galactose and glucose. ![]() Sucrase breaks sucrose into glucose and fructose molecules. These enzymes, known collectively as disaccharidase, are sucrase, maltase, and lactase. Additionally, enzymes are secreted by the intestinal cells that line the villi. This pancreatic juice contains the enzyme, pancreatic amylase, which starts again the breakdown of dextrins into shorter and shorter carbohydrate chains. Upon entry of the chyme into the small intestine, the pancreas releases pancreatic juice through a duct. The chyme is gradually expelled into the upper part of the small intestine. But mechanical breakdown is ongoing-the strong peristaltic contractions of the stomach mix the carbohydrates into the more uniform mixture of chyme.įigure 4.6 Salivary Glands in the Mouth Salivary glands secrete salivary amylase, which begins the chemical breakdown of carbohydrates by breaking the bonds between monomeric sugar units. (This is a good thing as more glucose in the mouth would lead to more tooth decay.) When carbohydrates reach the stomach no further chemical breakdown occurs because the amylase enzyme does not function in the acidic conditions of the stomach. ![]() Only about five percent of starches are broken down in the mouth. The increased concentration of maltose in the mouth that results from the mechanical and chemical breakdown of starches in whole grains is what enhances their sweetness. The salivary amylase breaks down amylose and amylopectin into smaller chains of glucose, called dextrins and maltose. This enzyme breaks the bonds between the monomeric sugar units of disaccharides, oligosaccharides, and starches. Saliva contains the enzyme, salivary amylase. The salivary glands in the oral cavity secrete saliva that coats the food particles. Chewing, also known as mastication, crumbles the carbohydrate foods into smaller and smaller pieces. The mechanical and chemical digestion of carbohydrates begins in the mouth. Digestion and Absorption of Carbohydrates From the Mouth to the Stomach |
